Serene Driftwood

On the west coast of Vancouver Island after a storm had tossed what it could up onto the beach, all was calm. I was able to explore what was left behind and discovered the strange ways the driftwood had landed. I had expected to find rare sea creatures and gigantic shells; I did not.

As I watched the sun set I wondered at the greatness of nature. Sky and sea forever, a beach coastline in both directions and no other souls in sight. Having only a few hours earlier experienced the complete opposite. The force of the wind, the power of the waves and the mist and rain obstructing my vision for miles. It is in the calm and the quiet that I find a peacefulness that is ready for me to capture.
